For my Compare and Contrast essay I wrote about inner and outer beauty. In my original essay, I repeated inner beauty and outer beauty a lot so for my final copy I change the wording so I was not so repetitive. Also for my final copy, I found different ways to say "a person's" because in my original copy I overused the phrase.
“People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in; their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” Many people have heard this famous quote by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and these words could not be any truer. Beauty can come in two distinct forms: inner and outer. Both types of beauty play a major impact in life through first impressions, jobs, social status, and even friendships. It’s important to maintain an equal amount of both types of beauties because they will help you become a well rounded person
In our generation, most people look at outer beauty before inner beauty. Outer beauty is always changing through society’s ideal perfect image for people and refers to their figure, features, complexion, and elegance. These features are biological yet they can be masked through false perfection aids such as: make-up, jewelry, clothing, and hair. Outer beauty is what originally draws a person into another. This is what makes a first impression and how someone will come to view that person until they learn more about their inner beauty or lack thereof. This type of beauty can influence a person’s personality by making them more self-confident, self-conceited, and even a shell of themselves. People who inhibit societal “ideal” outer beauty features often have a rotten personality making their outer beauty seem “uglier” and are often more materialistic. Also this beauty often fades with age leaving behind a fleeting imagine of the features that once were their personality focal points.
On the other hand, inner beauty is the purest expression of beauty and is what draws a person to another and keeps them yearning that person’s companionship. Some of the things inner beauty can be are quality of mind, habits, and traits such as; kindness, humility, generosity, empathy, and patience. These features can not be manufactured and are a true representative of character and heart. Inner beauty can be referred to a “glow” and people who have this frequently have a true interest in life rather than the materialistic components life can offer. Inner beauty does not fade with age; in fact, it often radiates brighter as a person ages and learns more from life.
Whether a person has both outer and inner beauty or just one of the two, it is important to be beautiful in both senses and show it to others. Outer beauty is what originally draws a person into another. On the flip side, inner beauty is what draws a person another and keeps them yearning a person’s companionship. Keeping both of these balanced are sure to make a person successful with first impressions, jobs, social status, friendships, and other factors of life. Remember a quote from Voltaire; “It is not sufficient to see and to know the beauty of a work. We must feel and be affected by it.”
